North Quad Residence & Academic Complex
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, Michigan
IPS served as the mechanical lead for construction of the new North Quadrangle Residential and Academic Complex at the University of Michigan. The new facility adds 360,000 SF, and houses approximately 450 upper-level undergraduates and two academic learning communities. BIM software was utilized to coordinate utility installation between the different trades which avoided rework and unnecessary costs.
IPS installed the entire new HVAC systems in the 10-story facility including energy conservation equipment that reduced facility energy costs by 30%. Systems installed by IPS also included: Low- and high-pressure steam lines, steam condensate, and dual temperature systems. Equipment provided and installed by IPS includes heat exchangers, base-mounted and in-line hydronic pumps, expansion tanks, air handling units, fan coil units, cabinet unit heaters and finnedtube radiators.
