Lab & Maintenance Building
Cleveland Cliffs - Columbus, OH
Down in Columbus, Ohio, IPS was awarded an EPC project that includes construction of a 1,500 square-foot laboratory building and a 12,000 square-foot maintenance building.
The pre-engineered maintenance building includes a 10-ton bridge crane, offices, meeting room, restrooms, and overhead doors. Additional scope of work includes sitework, foundations, piping, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and final finishes.
The Columbus operations include a hot-dip galvanizing facility and a processing facility in nearby Obetz, Ohio. The central Ohio locations provide good shipping access with excellent highway and rail transport. Two zinc pots enable the transition between coatings to be accomplished promptly while allowing for longer exposed runs. The plant produces hotdip galvanized sheet, using cold-rolled coils supplied by other Cleveland-Cliffs facilities and has an annual coating capacity of 450,000 tons.
