In 2008, POET began construction of a state-of-the art ethanol production facility. The facility consumes 24 million bushels of locally-grown corn to produce 68 million gallons of ethanol and 178,000 tons of livestock feed annually. The biorefinery provides a high-performance, environmentally friendly fuel and premium, high-quality Dakota Gold brand livestock feed for regional, national, and international markets.
IPS began work on POET’s Leipsic, Ohio Biorefining plant in February of 2007. This was one of three plants that IPS would perform work at over a 2-year period. IPS was responsible for the carbon steel and stainless steel utility and production piping. POET acted as the General Contractor and IPS self-performed all piping work.
