Thank you Habitat for Humanity of Wood County Ohio for giving us a day to volunteer at this new home build in Grand Rapids, Ohio. Our team spent the day running electrical wire throughout the house for outlets, smoke detectors, light fixtures, etc.
This house will soon be the home to a single father with two children, age 9 & 12, one who has autism. Do you know how Habitat for Humanity works? There is a program set up with certain criteria you have to meet to be able to apply for a Habitat home. If chosen, there are qualifications you have to meet such as volunteering your own time toward your home, provide past pay stubs to show you have a job, and probably the most surprising is, Habitat doesn’t give away the homes for free. The new owner still has to pay a mortgage (it is just within their budget) and take homeowner classes.
IPS has volunteered at Habitat for Humanity of Wood County for the last three years as we love to give back to the community we live and work in!
