Heinz is an American food processing company with world headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Heinz is most famous for its “57 Varieties” slogan and its ketchup. Heinz manufactures thousands of food products in plants throughout six continents.

Scope of work:

IPS was contracted to remove an existing 60,000 lbs per hour steam boiler at the Heinz Facility in Fremont, Ohio and replace it with a new 80,000 lbs per hour steam boiler.

Work included rigging, demolition, boiler installation, piping, structural steel, electrical, ducting, painting, and insulation. The existing boiler was cut apart using hydraulic sheers, plasma cutters, and hydraulic lifts were used to install the new boiler. Structural steel was installed for a brand new economizer and flue stack going through the roof.

Challenges:

Although space was very limited and there was only one overhead door for all items to be demoed and installed, IPS was still successfully able to complete the project
