GC Estimator
As a GC Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects. This role involves analyzing blueprints, project specifications, and other documentation to assess the time, materials, labor, and equipment required for a project. The GC Estimator works closely with the project management team during the pre-construction process to ensure all costs are accurately accounted for and that the project stays within budget.
Salary: $100,000 – $120,000 per year. Full time position.

Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates based on project specifications, blueprints, and site surveys.
- Calculate the cost of materials, labor, and equipment needed for construction projects.
- Develop and maintain cost databases for labor, material, and equipment pricing.
- Assist in determining the project’s scope, budget, and timelines.
- Collaborate with project managers to identify any potential changes or discrepancies in the project’s design.
- Work with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotes and evaluate bids.
- Ensure all costs are accurately recorded and tracked to maintain project budgets.
- Review project plans to ensure that cost-effective methods are implemented.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and reports for management and clients.
- Identify and assess potential risks that could impact project costs or timelines.
- Provide suggestions to mitigate potential issues, including delays or unexpected costs.
- Manage relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
- Evaluate bids from subcontractors and vendors to ensure they align with project specifications and budget.
- Review and analyze project change orders and assess their impact on cost and schedule.
- Prepare and present estimates and bid proposals to senior management or clients.
- Monitor project progress and make necessary adjustments to estimates based on project changes.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
- Ensure estimates are aligned with the company’s quality and project standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
- Possess 10+ years’ experience in construction estimating, ideally in a general contractor environment.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and labor costs.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while still meeting deadlines.
- Proven experience with estimating software (e.g., Procore, Accubid, Bluebeam, or similar).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
- Ability to conduct site visits, including some physical activity, such as walking or standing for extended periods.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Knowledge of the industry’s best practices and standards.
